Odoo vs Express
Express is a widely used Thai accounting package. If your main need is accounting and tax, it does the job well. If you want sales, stock, purchasing and accounting in one system, Odoo fits better, and the two can also run side by side.
We are an Odoo Silver Partner, so read with that in mind. The section on when to choose Express is written as seriously as the one for Odoo.

Five questions that decide it
How far does your work go beyond accounting?
If the pain is closing the books and filing tax, accounting software is enough. If it is stock that never matches, lost orders or unknown unit cost, you need a system that also captures operational work.
Who does your accounting?
If an outside accounting firm keeps your books, ask what format they accept. Many are used to Express, so moving to Odoo means agreeing how data will reach them from the start.
How does data reach the accounts?
If sales issue documents in one system and accounting re-keys them in another, every month brings reconciliation and errors. In one system, accounting entries come straight from the source documents.
Where is the business heading?
New branches, sister companies or online sales add needs for multiple warehouses, multiple companies and channel integration. Check whether the system fits your next three to five years.
Can the two run together?
Yes. Some businesses run sales, stock and purchasing in Odoo and pass data to an accounting firm that uses Express. It limits change on the accounting side, but the data handover must be designed clearly.
Which one fits?
Choose Odoo if
- You want sales, stock, purchasing and accounting in one system
- The main problems are operational: stock, orders or cost
- You plan more branches, sister companies or online channels
- You want workflows shaped to how your company works
Choose Express if
- Your main need is accounting and tax, and other work is simple
- Your accounting firm uses Express and prefers not to change
- You want packaged software you can start quickly without much setup
- Your accounting team knows Express and things run well
Common questions
What data can move from Express to Odoo?
We usually move master data: chart of accounts, customers, vendors, products and opening balances. Years of historical transactions usually stay viewable in the old system, so the migration stays manageable.
Can we use Odoo and still work with an accounting firm on Express?
Yes, by exporting data from Odoo in a format the firm accepts. Agree the format and schedule before go-live.
Does Odoo cover Thai tax?
Odoo's Thai localization includes VAT 7%, withholding tax, purchase and sales tax reports, PND3 and PND53 files, tax invoices showing head office or branch, and PromptPay QR. For specific needs such as e-Tax Invoice, confirm the required setup with your partner first.
