Microsoft announced on October 8 that Dynamics 365 CRM, its customer relationship management system, can be used within Microsoft Teams. Sales and service teams can see customer information while discussing their work, without opening a separate CRM application each time. The experience remains in public preview.

Jeff Teper, Executive Vice President of Microsoft Apps and Agents, explained that connecting a Teams channel to a customer account can bring relevant information into conversations, including pre-meeting briefs, service case notifications, and account developments. Teams can coordinate around shared customer context while Dynamics 365 remains the foundation for customer data and business processes.

Microsoft also made 30 prebuilt CRM skills for Copilot Cowork generally available. The skills help sellers investigate at-risk deals, develop account engagement plans, and propose changes to CRM records.

Service teams can use the skills to review case histories, research answers, and prepare replies for human review. An AI proposal to change a record is not a saved CRM update, and a drafted reply is not a message already sent to a customer.

The Cowork skills and CRM in Teams have different availability statuses. Access depends on administrator configuration, user or tenant consent, licensing, permissions, and organizational policies. For businesses already using Teams and Dynamics 365, the announcement shows a way to bring customer information into sales and service conversations. Whether this makes case handoffs faster still needs to be assessed through actual use.
